#100happydays indeed!

I Instagrammed my 36th post for the 100happydays challenge today. By now I thought I would have long since thrown in the towel (the lens maybe??), but instead I am relishing in the joy it brings me each day. It sounds ridiculous, but I feel happy. I find myself seeing the beauty and joy in my day that I never did before. A sunbeam on my drive home from work, a puffy cloud on a walk in the park, I now make sure I always have my iPhone on hand to snap away.

Perhaps it is the accountant in me, but I have started keeping a spreadsheet of my daily posts. Now that I have reread that it sounds mightily nerdy. It started so I could just keep track of the number day I was on, but since then I have categorised each picture to make sure the posts don’t get too repetitive. Unlike some of my friends that are in the rapture of brand new motherhood, I don’t have a small child to capture daily, neither do I own a pet, so I have to try to be a little more creative.

I have categorised my pictures into the following categories:

1. Curios – man do I love a good curio. I can spend thousands at any craft markets in five seconds flat. This category includes my love for cheap street art which has tended to feature now and then. Ha ha.

2. Food – goodness I love food, I love baking, I love cooking, I love restaurant going. So anything created (and unflopped) or ordered slots in here.

3. Nature – South African summer lends itself quite easily here. A beautiful sunset, some floaty clouds, the sun sparkling on the sea, you get the picture.

4. Various – anything else that doesn’t belong in the first few categories find itself in here.

So far here are the real stats versus the predicted:

Wa ha so geeky, but I can’t help it, I love it! It puts a smile on my face daily. Everybody should do this challenge. Can’t wait to see the end result!
